The winter months can be gray here on Vancouver Island, as we all wait for the blue skies and colours of spring to return. An idea was formed to brighten up the village with an art project by children. Through a grant provided by the Parksville Qualicum Community Foundation, and generous support from Windsor Plywood, we got to work organizing. The hearts were cut out by a local volunteer (Dave, we are forever grateful!) and then brought to KSS where the students were given the theme "what I love about QB". Starting on Valentine's Day, The hearts were hung throughout the village until the return of the flower baskets in the spring. The burst of colour and joyful images were a bright reminder on gray days - There is so much to love about our little town. The hearts are now on display at their "permanent" home on upper 2nd Ave W (near Beach Road).
